Bolton computer expert up for NHS tech award

A computer expert from the Royal Bolton Hospital has been shortlisted for a regional NHS award.

Andy Minnett, a specialist biomedical scientist, has written a new computer programme that has kept test turnaround times down.

The software know as The Monitor Short Turn Around — or MonSTA — helps staff track specimens.

The idea came to him when the department of laboratory medicine at the hospital started using the Bolton Improving Care System to reduce wasteful processes. The NHS Innovation awards ceremony will be held on October 28.
